The Hannibal chapter made their 2nd quarter contribution to Hannibal Alliance for Youth Success (HAYS) for their buddy pack program for Hannibal Public Schools. This program provides weekend meals to children in Hannibal elementary schools that need extra food over the weekend. Due to contributions made from the LBB Leadership Team and LBB:Troy chapter and our recent Mix & Mingle, our chapter was able to donate $145.00 and provider 195 jars of peanut butter to be used this school year for a total contribution of $1,120. The Southern Madison County chapter supported Restore Décor by painting furniture. They donated 14 hours of their time. Restore Décor’s mission is to foster meaningful relationships and to inspire the spirit of charitable giving throughout the St. Louis Metro East region by recycling, restoring, and reselling furniture. The proceeds from these activities help the poor and under-served population in the region and the exempt organizations serving those same individuals.
The Riverbend Chapter in Illinois spent 9 volunteer hours building 3 beds for Sleep In Heavenly Peace.
Learn More About Sleep In Heavenly Peace - All children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads. In Idaho and across the US, too many boys and girls go without a bed—or even a pillow—to sleep on. These children end up sleeping on couches, blankets, and even floors. This can affect their happiness and health. That’s where Sleep in Heavenly Peace comes in. We’re a group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need. Our organization has grown steadily over time, and we’re working on opening more chapters in different states to serve more people. Our Jefferson County Chapter donated $1,331.50 to Cocoa for Christ during the 2nd Quarter. Cocoa for Christ was started six years ago by a small group of American Heritage girls that put their heads together & dreamed up a fundraising project to help their troop support local foster children.
For the 2nd Quarter Community Outreach LBB Cottleville supported the FHSD homeless and displaced community members.
They collected over 300 personal care items, socks and shoes valued at $1,900. Donations are managed through the case management staff to directly support students in Parents as Teachers, early childhood, elementary, middle, and high schools, and their parents! HUGE thanks to our generous members who purchased items and attended our Mix & Mingle as well as our community partner, CFO, all who contributed to the success of this effort! Congratulations to the Troy & Hannibal ladies for brining in $109 worth of peanut butter to donate to HAYS buddy backpack program!!! This is about 35 jars of peanut butter that will fill backpacks for kids in this coming school year.
The Troy chapter and surrounding businesses collected period supplies. This year they doubled their collection and will be donating 27,000 items to local districts. The Riverbend Chapter collected approximately $800 in personal care and hygiene items for the Madison County Child Advocacy Center. The Madison County Child Advocacy Center (CAC) provides professional intervention and supportive services to fight child abuse. Most importantly, the CAC provides a safe haven for children to talk about the physical or sexual abuse they may have experienced and to help in limiting the number of times a child has to be interviewed.
LBB Cottleville generously donated $1,660 to The Grace Period, a check presentation was held during the Cottleville Coffee & Connections on April 12th. LBB collected over $2,000 in self-care items and services from LBB Membership. 52 tickets were sold and Brittany Neunuebel of LBB St. Charles was our lucky recipient!
The St Charles Chapter donated $1000 in cash, toys, cleaning supplies, and personal care items to St. Louis Crisis Nursery on opening day of the St Cardinals.
