A great turn out for the O'Fallon Chapter's Mix and Mingle on April 5th! 30 people attended the event to support the Child Advocacy Center and Youth in Need. A total of $858.60 was donated in tottal to the two organizations.
About the Child Advocacy Center: The Child Advocacy Center of Northeast Missouri serves children disclosing sexual abuse, physical abuse, and children who witness violence. Since opening our doors in 2000, our staff and community partners have been the front-line responders to reports of child abuse. Our organization exists to protect children, heal families and prevent abuse. The primary goal of The Child Advocacy Center is to ensure that children disclosing abuse are not further victimized by the intervention systems designed to protect them. Services offered include forensic interviews, children and family advocacy, mental health therapy, and school and community-based prevention education programs. About Youth In Need: Youth In Need has been serving the greater St. Louis area since 1974, when volunteers reached out to the agency’s first client. A teenage runaway, who left her home after another beating, was picked up on the streets and taken to the local jail with adult criminals. Troubled by the community’s response to runaway and homeless teens, volunteers changed the way these teens were treated by opening Youth In Need’s Emergency Shelter. Today, more than 400 full- and part-time staff serve more than 8,000 of the area’s most vulnerable children, teens and families at nearly 100 locations in six counties in eastern Missouri. |
